SUMMER BREAK CAMPS
-
Imagine a place where children immerse themselves in the make-believe of royal kingdoms ruled by Kings and Queens and protected by brave Knights! In our first week of summer camp, your child will have the opportunity to make their own crowns, as well as royal puppets. We'll create a “Knights in Training” obstacle course and build elaborate castles from blocks and other found objects. Each day we’ll take a journey in our minds through mythical storytelling and movement circles focused on nobility, courage, and kindness.
-
Join us for a rollicking week of singing a beloved classic—Jenny Jenkins! A silly song about Jenny who just can’t decide what color to wear, so she tries them all. As we sing about Jenny, we will make her many colorful robes by dyeing silk capes for our Jenny dolls using harvested natural materials. Children will learn how plants create the magic of color as they work with their hands, connect with the land, and find beauty in nature.
-
Young children will set sail through imaginative pirate stories, nature play, and obstacle courses that help build coordination. Children will make “pirate lemonade” (with a secret ingredient—nettle—to ward off scurvy!) and cork boats. As any good pirate would wish, there will be plenty of water play.
-
Focus, discipline, and spirit will be needed as children enter our second pirate-themed week, this time focusing on treasure. These young adventurers are invited into a world of imaginative seafaring, woodland wonder, and creative exploration. Treasure scavenging and orienting abound—and, of course, pirates always want more water play.
-
There is no time for peace and quiet this summer as children release their inner Wild Child. Campers will explore a world where imagination runs free, building focus, discipline, and courage as they connect with nature and strengthen coordination through obstacle courses.
-
My Household is a week centered on patience, kindness, and understanding—skills deeply needed in our world today. Children slow down, soak in the warmth of the sun, and build focus through gentle rhythm. They strengthen coordination through obstacle courses and connect with the land through handwork and meaningful play.
-
We close the summer with Everyone’s Garden, a week dedicated to tending the land and caring for the earth. After a summer of new faces and experiences, children receive the gifts the earth offers through the garden. They explore nourishment for the body and spirit and end the season with a sweet and intentional farewell.
AGES 8-12
Grades Camps
Our Grades Camps combine fun summer freedom with engaging, hands-on themes that spark curiosity and creativity.
We accept ERDC for both Early Childhood and Grades Camps.
While each week has its own focus, the atmosphere remains relaxed, playful, and social. Just as summer should be. Grades campers enjoy meaningful projects, time outdoors, and time with friends. Our camps balance structure with the easy rhythm of summertime.

Campers will create original characters, practice expressive faces and movement, experiment with panels and pacing, and learn how words and images work together to tell a story. Each day includes guided art time, playful storytelling exercises, and time outdoors to recharge and have fun. By the end of the week, each camper will have a finished short comic or mini zine to share and take home.

In consideration of my child’s admittance, I hereby authorize Waldorf School of Bend to arrange for medical examination and/or treatment of my child, , should an emergency arise on the school premises. I understand that a conscientious effort will be made by a teacher or staff member to contact me at the numbers I have provided before any medical action is taken, to the extent that such prior notification is medically feasible.
I would prefer the hospital of my choice, but fully understand that my choice of hospital may be limited by the service of a local rescue squad.
Should my child suffer an injury or illness while in the care of Waldorf School of Bend and the facility is unable to contact me/us immediately, it shall be authorized to secure such medical attention and care for the child as may be necessary. I/We agree to keep the facility informed of changes in telephone numbers, etc. where I/we can be reached. The facility agrees to keep me informed of any incidents requiring professional medical attention involving my child. The facility will attempt to contact me before calling on emergency services. However, it is understood that in certain critical medical situations, the staff will need to contact local emergency resources BEFORE the parent, child's physician or other emergency contacts. Permission is granted to take my child to the nearest appropriate medical facility, and the facility and its medical staff have my authorization to provide treatment that a physician deems necessary for the well-being of my child. I agree to accept the financial responsibility for all medical and transportation expenses incurred. Children must be able to participate safely in a group setting and should be able to reasonably follow adult guidance and classroom expectations. Camp is a cooperative program that requires children to use safe bodies, remain with the group, and treat others with respect.
If a child’s behavior consistently compromises their own safety or the safety of others, or if a serious behavioral incident occurs that poses an immediate safety concern or significantly disrupts the camp environment, WSB may determine that camp is not the right fit at this time and may require my child to be picked up early or withdrawn from the program.
-
As part of the Summer Camp program, children may participate in off-campus activities, including walking field trips, local hikes, and outdoor exploration in the areas surrounding the school.
These outings may include nearby parks, trails, natural areas, and community spaces and will always be supervised by school staff, with safety guidelines and appropriate ratios in place.
Specific outings are thoughtfully planned by the camp team and will be shared with families as summer approaches, and that locations may vary based on weather, safety considerations, and program needs.
Transportation to off-campus activities may include travel in a school-operated van driven by authorized school staff, and I give permission for my child to participate in such transportation as part of the camp program.
