The weather is finally getting warm and summer is fast approaching.  Have you planned out what your children will be doing? The Waldorf School of Bend offers four amazing weeks of Summer Camp for students aged 5-12 beginning in July.  Each week students will be grouped by age (5-8 years old and 9-12 years old).  This is a great opportunity for your child to continue with their Waldorf experience.  Or, if you’re new to Waldorf education and want to try it out, this is a fantastic way to check out the school in a fun, summer camp setting.

Each session is one week long, so you can sign up for one week, or the entire month!  During the week campers will experience field trips, gardening, arts, music, Spanish, yoga & handwork.  Field trips include DD RanchTodd LakeCascade Indoor Sports, and more.

Waldorf education focuses on teaching the whole child; head, hands, and heart.  This philosophy has been brought through to our summer camps as well, so you can be assured that your child is getting a creative, inspiring and holistic experience while having a blast with new friends.

Week one is a DIY Week.  Students will make things that fly like airplanes and kites!  During week two they will use their imagination in nature.  Creating nature art, learning about local flora and fauna and botanicals, they will get to experience some of Bend’s amazing trails and parks.  Who doesn’t love games?  Week three gives students the chance to learn the roots of some of the favorite modern day sports and board games.  Finally, the summer camp rounds out with a trip around the world.  From art to food to music, students will experience Japanese, Australian, South American and West African cultures.

Space is limited so register now to ensure your space!  Which one will you join?

We welcome your visit to the Waldorf School of Bend! Experience our morning rhythm, and visit a main lesson in each grade. After your classroom visits, we are here to discuss Waldorf philosophy, answer questions, and explore whether the Waldorf approach is a fit for your child and your family. Because we visit classes in session, adults only please. There are other opportunities for your children to visit at our Open Houses.

Beginning in autumn, scheduled tours are held on each Tuesday morning beginning at 9:30. Tours alternate between our grades and early childhood programs. Call Sarah Rucker, Admissions Director, at 541-330-8841 to reserve your spot.

Our highest endeavor must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives. The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility - these three forces are the very nerve of education.
