At the Waldorf School of Bend, education is a powerful vehicle for social change. Early Childhood Teacher, Pre-K 2-Day

The Waldorf School of Bend, located in beautiful Central Oregon, is seeking a part-time Pre-School Teacher for the 2023-24 school year. The Waldorf School of Bend was founded in 1995 and serves students from Preschool through 8th grade at our midtown campus.  The school is a full member of WECAN and an associate member of AWSNA.  

Our early childhood program, based in Waldorf pedagogy, focuses on preparing a simple, rhythmic schedule that supports the well being of the growing child. In creating a beautiful classroom space for the young child to play with ease, the rhythm supports daily learning. This offers a secure, healthy, and nurturing environment for children.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities and experience working with young children and their families. They will be intuitive, demonstrate flexible thinking, possess strong classroom management skills, and work collaboratively with their colleagues. They will also have a deep appreciation for developing their parent community through parent meetings, class offerings, and support through the developmental milestones of childhood. Most importantly, they will have a love for the wonder of early childhood and a determination to preserve it for children.

Prior training and knowledge of Waldorf Education are preferred, with the expectation that hired candidates will continue to attend professional development opportunities to deepen their understanding of Waldorf education. Candidates must be Teacher Qualified in the Oregon Early Learning Division Central Background Registry, or have the ability to do so prior to the position start. We’re happy to assist in this process.

 

Compensation

This part-time position will lead their own class 2 days per week, with consistent opportunities for additional hours. Compensation begins at $21/hour, and may be increased based on a candidate’s education and experience. Additional benefits include partial tuition remission, paid time off, mentoring, and funding for professional development opportunities.

Adventure lovers have ample opportunities for skiing, paddling, mountain biking, hiking and backpacking, and those who prefer to stay closer to town can enjoy miles of interurban pathways, neighborhood parks, cafes, restaurants, theaters, farmer’s markets, music events, and festivals.

Grades Teacher

The Waldorf School of Bend, located in beautiful Central Oregon, is seeking a full time Grades Teacher for the 2023-24 school year. The Waldorf School of Bend was founded in 1995 and serves students from Preschool through 8th grade at our midtown campus. The school is a full member of WECAN and an associate member of AWSNA.  

 

Qualifications 

We are looking for a passionate Waldorf teacher who can bring their wisdom and experience to our growing school, contribute meaningfully to our devoted Faculty, and is excited about leading a group of students and parents through their Waldorf journey. Ideal candidates will have completed their Waldorf teacher training, or have an equivalent number of years of experience as a Waldorf lead classroom teacher. Successful candidates will have an enthusiastic and warm approach to their teaching, show excellence in written and spoken communication, and be eager to collaborate with colleagues.

 

Compensation

Our competitive salary is dependent upon education and experience. An average salary ranges between $38,000 and $50,000 for our teachers with additional benefits offered which include full premium-paid health, vision, and dental insurance, tuition remission, paid time off, mentoring, and funding for professional development opportunities.

Substitute Teachers

Waldorf School of Bend is looking for energetic and motivated substitute teachers to work with students from Pre-K through 8th grade. The best candidates for substitute teacher jobs have a bachelor’s degree, first aid/CPR training, are Teacher Qualified and enrolled in the Early Learning Division Central Background Registry, and enjoy working with children. They are flexible and have some sort of education/teaching experience. Successful candidates will have to undergo a background check.
