Update from our teacher
I hope everyone had fun at Local Flavor. We are still tallying the totals and will have a number for everyone on Wednesday at the All School Meeting.
The class has been working hard learning the new rule of spelling from the Queen of Letter Land. It is exciting to see how this knowledge then reflects in their reading. We have read most of the Pancake book, with only one story left. The children are getting pretty good and their reading is coming along much faster. Please continue to read with your children at home. Continued exposure to reading assists in retention of words.
This week we are reviewing our times tables up to eleven with a new game called number houses. We will be going outside and drawing numbers in the parking lot, then using tennis balls to bounce on the correct answers. Please keep your outside shoes on this week. We hope to show all our friends on Thursday and Friday our fun way of learning the times tables.
I will be sending home copies of our script for the play. Some children were worried about remembering their lines after two weeks off. I am tentatively setting the dates for our performances for Thursday, April 15th at the Spring Assembly at Miller Elementary AND Friday, April 16th during our Morning Assembly. I need to run this by the faculty tomorrow, during our Grades Meeting. We have talked about it before and everyone was ok with it. I just need to confirm it with them all. I will let you know if there are any changes.
I will be doing Parent – Teacher Conferences over Spring Break and the week we get back. I will be available Wed 24 in the morning, Fri 26 in the afternoon, and Thurs 1 all day. I will have sign ups with times at the sign in. I look forward to talking with each of you!
Thanks for all you do! You are so amazing. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a lovely class.
With much love and appreciation,
Mrs. Elmore
